The system is rigged. We all know it. The question is: are you ready to do something about it, or are you content to watch injustice unfold from the sidelines while mainstream media serves up sanitized soundbites and politicians offer empty promises?

At Clutch Justice, we’re building something different. We’re not here to play patty-cake with power or deliver lukewarm takes that offend no one and inspire nothing. We’re here to expose the rot, name the names, and drag uncomfortable truths into the light; even when those truths make people squirm.

We need writers who get it. Writers with fire in their belly and truth in their bones.

What We’re Looking For

Forget think pieces that disappear into the academic void.

We want raw, unfiltered analysis that cuts through the noise and moves people to action. If you’ve got something to say about any of these areas, we want to hear from you:

Criminal Justice Reform That Actually Matters
Not the cosmetic changes that let politicians claim victory while the machine keeps grinding. We want the deep structural analysis that explains why reform efforts fail and what it would actually take to tear down mass incarceration.

Corruption Exposés That Name Names
Who’s getting rich off human suffering? Which judges are bought? Which prosecutors are playing politics with people’s lives? We’re not afraid of powerful enemies; bring us the receipts.

Reentry Reality Check
The system sets people up to fail, then blames them for failing. If you’ve lived it, studied it, or fought it, show us what reentry really looks like and what it would take to make it work.

Legal Tech: Revolution or Illusion?
Is technology actually improving justice outcomes, or just making oppression more efficient? We want the honest assessment of what’s working, what’s failing, and what’s purely hype.

Mental Health in the System
Prisons have become America’s largest mental health facilities by default. What does this mean for justice? For treatment? For the people caught in between?

Follow the Money
Who profits when more people get locked up? Which companies, counties, and contractors have built their business models on human cages? Show us the economic incentives driving mass incarceration.

Policy Deep Dives
Cut through the political theater. What do the bills actually say? Who benefits? Who gets hurt? What are the unintended consequences nobody wants to talk about?

Who We Want

The Lived Experience Experts: If you’ve been inside the system, either as someone incarcerated, formerly incarcerated, or fighting for someone who was, your perspective is invaluable. You know what the rest of us can only theorize about.

Legal Professionals Fed Up with the Status Quo: Public defenders drowning in cases, prosecutors watching their offices get captured by politics, judges frustrated with mandatory minimums; if you’re working inside the system and sick of what you see, we want to hear from you.

Researchers with Data That Demands Action: Your studies show the problems, but academic journals bury the implications. Help us translate your findings into arguments that policymakers can’t ignore.

Activists with Solutions: Complaints are easy. Solutions are hard. If you’re doing the work to build alternatives, we want to amplify what’s actually working on the ground.

Tech Innovators Building Justice Tools: Are you creating apps for reentry? Platforms for legal aid? Tools for transparency? Show us how technology can serve justice instead of just serving power.

Anyone with a Story That Needs Telling: Sometimes the most powerful writing comes from unexpected places. Fighting government coverups and corruption? The more the merrier. If you’ve got insight into how the system works or fails to work, we want to hear it.

What We’re NOT Looking For

  • Academic papers that could cure insomnia
  • Both-sides-ism that treats oppression as a debate topic (because it absolutely is not)
  • Reform proposals that nibble around the edges while the house burns down
  • Writers who are more concerned with their reputation than the truth
  • Content that makes everyone feel good while changing nothing

The Clutch Justice Difference

We don’t just publish articles, we start loud, passionate conversations that matter.

Our pieces get shared by advocates, cited by legal researchers and nonprofit organizations. They’re read by forward-thinking judges and legal professionals who can actually change things. When you write for us, you’re not just adding to the noise, you’re cutting through it.

With an electric knife.

We’re building a community of writers and readers who understand that justice isn’t a polite conversation topic; it’s an urgent demand that requires uncomfortable truths and bold action.

Ready to Join the Fight?

If you’re tired of watching injustice from the sidelines, if you’ve got something to say that needs saying, if you’re ready to put your voice behind real change—we want to work with you.

Here’s what we need:

  • A brief pitch (2-3 sentences) of your article or op-ed idea
  • A paragraph about why you’re the right person to write it
  • Your experience/credentials (formal or lived)
  • Writing samples if you have them (but don’t let this stop you if you don’t)

Send your pitch to hello@clutchjustice.com with “Writer Submission” in the subject line.

I review every submission, and we respond to everyone. If your pitch fits our mission, I’ll work with you to develop it into something that can actually move the needle.

The Time is Now

The system isn’t going to reform itself.

Change doesn’t happen because we ask nicely; it happens because we demand it loudly, clearly, and persistently.

Your voice matters. Your perspective matters. Your story matters.

The question is: are you ready to use them?

Join us. The revolution needs your fire.
