If you haven’t noticed, my days are spent knee-deep in corruption, misconduct, and the kind of systemic rot that most people would rather pretend doesn’t exist. Between launching an independent news desk, and chasing down stories that powerful people would love to bury, clearly, life gets messy.

But the hardest part? I’m also a mom.

And while I spend my professional life shining a light on bad actors, I spend my personal life crocheting cute stuff yes, but also trying to raise independent, resilient kids who don’t just survive in this world, but learn how to thrive in it. That means teaching them skills that our broken systems sure as hell aren’t handing out: responsibility, independence, and smart money management.

That’s why my family uses Greenlight.

For real. We legitimately use it. This isn’t just a slap-your-name-on-it sponsorship, it’s an actual learning and money management tool in my household.

Why Greenlight?

Greenlight is more than just a debit card for kids. It’s a money app that helps them:

  • Learn how to earn, save, and invest
  • Spend wisely (and, yes, I can track it)
  • Get money instantly if they need it
  • Take on chores and learn accountability

For me, it’s about peace of mind. In the middle of chasing stories about corrupt judges and corporate negligence, I can still teach my kids about money management, without them having to learn the hard way.

Digital Citizenship Matters

Let’s face it: our kids are growing up online. They’re bombarded with influencers telling them to “buy this now” and ads trying to hack their brains before they hit 13. Digital citizenship, learning to navigate money, choices, and accountability in a connected world, matters more than ever.

Greenlight gives me a way to put real-world tools in their hands, while also giving them the chance to make mistakes safely. Because my job as a mom isn’t just protecting them, it’s preparing them for the nitty gritty of life.

Because My Dumpster Fire Runneth Over…

Look, on top of a day job, I’m calling out corruption around the clock. My night job is feeding kids, running carpools, and making sure Laundry Mountain doesn’t have an avalanche and bury us alive.

Somewhere in between all of that, I’m trying to raise good humans.

Greenlight helps me do it. Not just by teaching my kids about money, but by teaching them responsibility, independence, and accountability, things we desperately need more of in this world.
