The Michigan Attorney Discipline Board has issued a 30-day suspension to Daniel J. Lehman (P66126) of Farmington Hills, Michigan, following findings of professional misconduct linked to a domestic assault conviction and subsequent probation violation. The suspension became effective on May 8, 2025, and includes conditions related to the misconduct.

Background: Criminal Conviction and Probation Violation

According to the Grievance Administrator, Lehman was convicted of domestic assault, a misdemeanor offense under West Bloomfield Ordinance Sec. 15-51. The case—Township of West Bloomfield v. Daniel Joseph Lehman—was heard in 48th District Court (Case No. 21-WB01579-D01-OM).

While serving probation for the original domestic violence charge, Lehman was involved in another domestic altercation and consumed alcohol, both of which violated the terms of his probation. On March 29, 2022, he pled guilty to the probation violation. Additionally, Lehman failed to report his conviction to the Grievance Administrator and the Attorney Discipline Board, as required by court rules.

Panel Findings and Misconduct Violations

After formal proceedings under MCR 9.115 and MCR 9.120, Tri-County Hearing Panel #62 found Lehman in violation of the following:

These violations stemmed from both the original criminal behavior and Lehman’s failure to report the conviction.

Disciplinary Action and Appeal

The panel ordered a 30-day suspension of Lehman’s license to practice law in Michigan, along with conditions appropriate to the misconduct. Lehman sought a review of the decision, triggering an automatic stay under MCR 9.115(K).

Following full review proceedings under MCR 9.118, the Attorney Discipline Board upheld the hearing panel’s findings and affirmed the suspension in full.

Costs and Compliance

Lehman was assessed $2,883.88 in costs related to the disciplinary proceedings. Having completed the suspension and filed the necessary compliance affidavit, Lehman was officially reinstated to the practice of law on July 1, 2025.
