On May 1, 2025, Kalamazoo Defender will open its doors to the community for a special Law Day Open House from 4:00 to 6:30 PM at its newly expanded office at 151 S. Rose Street, Suite 200, Kalamazoo, MI.

This event offers a chance for local residents, justice partners, and supporters to celebrate the spirit of Law Day, a national observance honoring the importance of law in our society.

Guests will be welcomed with light refreshments, guided tours of the expanded space, and the opportunity to meet the dedicated staff behind Kalamazoo Defender’s holistic public defense services.

Executive Director Matthew Wait shared, “This open house is a celebration of growth, access to justice, and our ongoing commitment to serve the people of Kalamazoo County with integrity and compassion.”

As Kalamazoo’s first nonprofit public defender office, Kalamazoo Defender continues to advocate for equitable legal representation and connects clients to vital support systems through its innovative community-based model, The Village.
